A typical Saturday afternoon at
Avonvale Model Flying Club.
Sorry if the pix take some time to
load but they are really worth waiting for.
Go and make a cup of tea while
they appear!
The pits at Avonvale Model Flying
Club, Long Marston Airfield, Nr Stratford upon Avon - just look at that sky -
beautiful!
A full size Jodel taxies through
the pits - he just wants to join the fun!
Avonvale MFC Chairman, Marc
Plummer with his superb SC108 powered Goldberg Chipmunk. Marc usually flies his
models with the wheels on the bottom just twice per flight. He always
reinforces the top of his rudder/fin and has even fitted models with an
extra tailwheel there to reduce wear during low inverted passes along the
tarmac!
Daniel Workman with his very
aerobatic glider just before aerotow launch by dad Steve's clipped wing Cub
A group of Balsacraft Easy Streets
with happy pilots, clockwise from top left Nick
Marson, Keith Edkins, Richard Few, Alf Andrews and Josh Spiers (who likes 'em so
much he has two!). These
electric aerobats have really become popular in the club and are being tested
with a variety of different motors and battery packs.
Steve and Daniel Workman prepare
to tow the glider up. Once it's released they have a race to see who can
land first! Dad's Cub tug descends like a shot pigeon while Daniel's
glider performs a succession of wild, mainly vertically downward, manouevres to
just beat Dad to the tarmac 3 times out of 4.
Nick Marson with his trademark
OS70FS powered Avicraft Panic. Nick has flown this same model now for over 5
years. It is totally original having only needed two new fuselages, three
pairs of wings and a couple of replacement engines.
It seems happiest prop
hanging or torque rolling about 10 feet up for most of the afternoon.
Nick Marson's Easy Street playing
at Knife Edge flight.
Josh Spiers' beautiful electric
Mosquito. Josh flies this night fighter in such a smooth scale style that
it never fails to win admiration. Today a group of full size pilots
stopped work in their hangar just to enjoy it passing by. Later they were
amazed to learn it is electric powered.
